It just takes one moment to devastate a life , or in this case two. Abd el Rauof, an Emirati National, was involved in a car accident with a Pakistani National. In a cruel twist of fate, the Pakistani National was paralyzed for life following the collision and Abd el Raouf was ordered by the court to pay AED 800,000 in compensation. Unable to raise the funds, he was sent to jail and lost his job with the government. As the sole provider for his wife and six children, the youngest of which was only one when he was incarcerated, both he and his family suffered greatly. After his story was published in Emirates Today, the Faraj Fund received communications from over 30 donors, all of whom made it possible for the debt to be paid and for Abd el Rauof to return to his family.
