Mr Fayez A had never even been near a police station in the 25 years he spent working as an Electrical Engineer for a UAE Media Group. He was considered a highly dedicated employee and committed husband and father. One day his peaceful world was shattered by a devastating cancer diagnosis for his daughter. Sudanese-born Mr Fayez did everything he could to help, including taking out two loans in order to cover the cost of her treatment. To make matters worse, he then lost his job, which left him unable to pay the outstanding amount of AED 33,000. He spent seven months in jail, with no hope of resolving his situation, until the Faraj Fund and Emirates Today highlighted his plea. Through their publicity, they were able to raise the funds to resolve his case and reunite him, at last, with his family.
